Компания Activision Blizzard стала далеко не первой, кто принял аналогичное решение. Ранее CD Projekt RED объявила о том же, запретив в России свои игры «Ведьмак 3: Дикая охота» (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) и Cyberpunk 2077. Компания Rockstar Games также запретила продавать свои игры (GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 и другие) в своем официальном магазине.
Теперь российские геймеры лишаются возможности приобрести и игры компании Activision Blizzard, среди которых: Call of Duty: Vanguard, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Overwatch и прошлые части серии, Diablo 3, Diablo 2: Resurrected, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands и многие другие. Сама компания Activision Blizzard в своем заявлении также отметила, что уже пожертвовала более 300 тысяч долларов в организации, оказывающие помощь в регионе.
